GET READY FOR SHOP WITH A COP DECEMBER 2025!

History:  In December 2022, the Lovejoy Police Department’s  "Shop With A Cop" program provided students whose families were having financial issues during the holidays a great shopping experience. Ten students from the age range of 6 to 15 years old, who are residents of Lovejoy, GA, were selected for this program. The student and their parents were invited to Lovejoy City Hall for a meet and greet, while the officers discussed the program. Also, during this meet and greet, the children were provided with Police Department giveaway bags. Students who were chosen to participate received a $100.00 Wal-Mart gift card to be used on the day of the event. The police ran lights and sirens to get the excitement going as they escorted the children in the city van over to the local Walmart.  The children engaged in positive interaction and discussion. In addition, with the help of their parents and police officer escorts, the students shopped for themselves and gained an experience to remember. 

Children who are selected to participate in a shopping trip are based on the following criteria:

1. financial need,
2. staying in school,
3. avoiding fighting & bullying,
4. avoiding a gang or criminal lifestyle.
5. A City of Lovejoy resident

We ask that no more than two children per household apply.  We want to be sure to assist as many households as possible. We thank you for your understanding.

The “Shop With A Cop” program reinforces the ideas of sharing and giving and promotes the idea that role models of all ages are crucial to the development of our youth. The positive one-on-one experience each student will get from “Shop With A Cop” is never forgotten.
