Permits
PERMIT APPLICATIONS
All Civil or Building Permit applications must be submitted with 3 hard copies of the plans, and all other required documents (see required documents below). A Land Disturbance Permit (LDP) application is needed for all Civils. These documents cannot be emailed. Permit applications and plans can be submitted to Lovejoy City Hall (2296 Talmadge Road) 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM Monday - Friday, or at our Community Development Department (11714 Hastings Bridge Road, Suite D) 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM Monday- Friday via mail or in-person.
Our review process takes approximately fifteen business days. However, all plans must also be submitted to the Clayton Fire Marshal's Office (see their submittal procedure) as well as Clayton County Water Authority (https://www.ccwa.us/developer-information/). We must have approval from both before we can issue your City of Lovejoy permit.
If your property is over 1 acre, you are also required to get your Civil Plans approved by GSWCC (https://gaswcc.georgia.gov/). We must have their approval as well before permitting. Their address is

Permit Submittal Requirements (per site/lot/address)
- Business Licenses (of all applicable contractors)
- State License (of all applicable contractors)
- Copy of ID for license holder/contractor
- Completed & Signed Sub-Contractors Affidavit
- ID of person submitting/picking-up permit
- Affidavit authorizing non license holder to pick up permit on licensee’s behalf
- Completed building permit application
- House Location Plan (3 copies)
- Copy of the NOI (Notice of Intent)
- An approved House plan (3 copies)
- Proof of GSWCC approval, copy of individual lot approval and review approval form
- Variance fees are $500 per variance
- Land Disturbance Permits (LDP’s) are $250 each
- If work is started before a permit is received, permit fees will be doubled
- The Subcontractors Affidavit has to be submitted with each building permit
- Attachments needed: Driver’s License, Business License, and State License

- Signed and notarized affidavit will need to be submitted if the contractor is not the personal picking up the approved permit.

- Color renderings with dimensions for all signs to be installed
- Business license of the sign contractor

- Letter of approval from neighbor, if attaching to neighbor's fence.
Re-zoning - Conditional Use Permit Application
Once your plans or application are approved, and you receive confirmation of the amount due, payments can be made via e-mail using the Credit Card Authorization form, in person at Lovejoy City Hall (2296 Talmadge Road), or by mail (P.O. Box 220, Lovejoy, GA 30250).
Payments accepted include: Check, Cash, Credit Cards, and Money Orders.
Submit your inspection Request: Inspection Request
Once your request is submitted, please allow 24-48 hours for it to be processed. Once approved, please allow 2 - 4 business day for Power Release and C.O. approvals to be submitted or issued. (C.O. notifications will be provided to the builders via e-mail.)
